Shellie Zimmerman Arrested For Lying To The Court

By Mike Miller

June 13, 2012 - On Tuesday Shellie Zimmerman, 25 was arrested and jailed for perjury as a result of misleading the court during her husbands bond hearing on April 20, 2012.

Shellie Zimmerman stated at that time while under oath she was unaware of any money collected in a PayPal account setup for her husband’s George Zimmerman, defense in the shooting death of unarmed Trayvon Martin, 17, on February 26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida.

Court documents filed on Tuesday indicate that between April 16 and April 19, Shellie Zimmerman had transferred more than $74,000 from her husband’s account to her own account, days before the bond hearing on April 20th. Prosecutors have described Shellie and George’s behavior as lies and distortions.

Shellie and George Zimmerman testified before Judge Kenneth Lester on April 20th bond hearing that they were penniless and that she was unemployed. As a result the judge issued a low bond of $150,000 and required George Zimmerman to turn in his passport (see below video for Shellie Zimmerman’s testimony). Bernie De la Rionda said "This court was led to believe they didn't have a single penny. It was misleading, and I don't know what words to use other than it was a blatant lie.

When George Zimmerman was arrested back in April he made and received phone calls while in jail, those calls had been recorded by the Seminole County. The calls revealed damaging statements that go to the Zimmerman’s creditability.

While in custody at Seminole County jail, Zimmerman on April 17 had a phone conversation with his wife in which they discussed the second passport. The phone calls revealed that they had discussed the money transfers in code to hide the funds and a second passport was revealed Shelly Zimmerman, “I have one for you in safety deposit box.” Zimmerman “Ok, you hold on to that.”

George Zimmerman: Do you know what? I think my passport is in that bag.

Shelley Zimmerman: I have one for you in a safety deposit box...

George Zimmerman: OK, you hold on to that.

Shelley Zimmerman: For you...

Courtroom transcripts indicate George and his wife had conversations around his wife taking control of his bank account and to go to the bank to move the money. In another call Shelley Zimmerman is at the bank and the teller takes the phone to get a security code from George so he could authorize Shelley's control of the account. Shelley even says at one point, "Not going to say any personal information since it's recorded."

Shelly Zimmerman was charged with one count of perjury, she bonded out for later Tuesday afternoon for $1,000. It’s troubling that George Zimmerman’s attorney did not perform a due diligence of the family’s money prior to the April 20th bond hearing. This case has affected so many people and it continues to be a circus of lies and deceit.
